Last weekend was busy with Christmas happenings. First, on Saturday morning, I got to participate in the program for our Ward Christmas Breakfast. It was called The Twelve Days of Christmas. The program talked about the spiritual meaning of that song (which I had never heard before). The choir sang little sections of the the song "12 days of Christmas" and there were speaking parts in between. It was fun to be a part of it. I spent the rest of the day shopping and then we watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince that night.
On Sunday morning, we had tickets for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert, so we had to get up early and leave the house by 8:00 so we could be in our seats by 9:00. It was raining on the drive and part of the freeway was closed, so we were running really late. Bart dropped the kids and I off about a block from the conference center at 8:45 and then he had to go park 3-4 blocks away. The lines were super long to get in. I'm sure there were still 10,000 people waiting to get in at 9:00. We finally made it to our seats, which were excellent, and Bart got in his seat about 2 minutes before Music and the Spoken Word started taping. Natalie Cole was the musical guest. They taped the 30 minute show for TV and then did a mini concert afterwards. It was very exciting. The kids weren't nearly as tortured as they thought they'd be. Keegan actually said it was cool.
We got home around 12:00 and then I relaxed for a few minutes and watched the Colts win again (Yeah!) before heading to nursery at 2:00. After church we had our final choir practice before our program this Sunday. I was nervous about it because we still needed a lot of work, but it turned out very well. My soloist for the final song was not at practice, so I got to sing the solo and lead at the same time. It was awesome! After my practice I went to the Bruce's for dinner. It was nice to visit with everyone. By the time we got home I was very tired.
This week has been crazy busy at work as well. We have been busy sending out Christmas cards to our patients and getting cards and gifts ready for our referral sources. We had our manager's meeting in Salt Lake and I also had to prepare for another recruiting visit. On Thursday we had a lunch at HAFB that I had to prepare handouts for and bring lunch for 35 people. I have also been busy working on our staff Christmas party and worrying about gifts for everyone. I will be happy when Christmas Eve is here!
Tonight the boys are playing half life and I am baking. I'd better get back to the kitchen! Even though it has been a busy week, I still love this holiday season!
