Keegan loves soccer! He is always kicking the ball around the house. This year when the soccer season ended, he wanted to keep playing, so I looked into Indoor Soccer. I signed him up to play at the Sportsplex in Kaysville. Normally, the league is made up of competition teams who have been playing together for a while. The Sportsplex has a "house team" made up of individuals who register on their own. The first day we went, it was a little intimidating. The other teams all had their matching uniforms and warm-ups and bags. Our team had mis-matched outfits and had never met each other or their coach. Most of them had never played indoor soccer or knew the rules either. Surprisingly enough they won the first game! Keegan is doing a great job. He usually plays defense and is great at kicking the ball back to the other side of the field. He is being more aggressive than usual and really goes after the ball. He is really enjoying himself and I am proud of him. The team is doing great and they are now 2-1.
The biggest surprise of all is that there is a girl on their team (in an all boy league). She is amazing! She scores almost all of their goals and is better than the boys on the comp teams. She is 10 years old, but plays on a 12 year old girls competition team that is currently the State Champs. Her name is Ireland Dunn. That name could be big in the soccer world in the future!
