A couple of weeks ago, my mom asked me to buy my dad a cake for his birthday. Then she added, "his favorite is orange chiffon cake." I called Dick's bakery to ask if they had one, and the girl asked me, "What's that?" I thought maybe I could make one, so I looked it up online and also in the Joy of Cooking cookbook and decided I would make it. I had to borrow a tube pan from my mom. The directions said to turn it over on the neck of a bottle as soon as it comes out of the oven, and that really concerned me because I thought it would fall out, so Keegan and I watched a youtube video about it. I found out that you have to do that to let it stretch as it cools or else it would just sink in. You keep it in the pan by not greasing the pan. Pretty cool! It took Keegan and I about 4 hours to make, but it turned out pretty good! When I took it to my parents house, everyone was impressed. Bart even liked it which is a surprise because he never eats dessert. Now his family wants to know when they get one. Maybe I'll have to make it for Easter dinner!
