September 2010

On September 5th, Bart and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary!  Our new car was present enough for the both of us, but we also went away for the night on Friday, the 3rd.  We dropped the kids off at Rick and Myrna's.  Then, we went out to dinner at the Prairie Schooner in Ogden, and then to the Alaskan Inn.  We stayed in the Orca Cabin which was the same place we stayed 5 years ago.  We watched Couples Retreat and then Bart started another movie and I fell asleep.  In the morning, breakfast was delivered to the door.  I had a yogurt parfait, and Bart had pancakes.  It was delicious!  Then we checked out and hurried home to pick up the kids so we could finish getting everything ready for the Bruce Invitational!

The Bruce Invitational was held on Saturday, September 4th at Valley View golf course.  This year, we decided that the women and juniors would only count the front 9 for their tournament score, but could play all 18 holes if they wanted to.  I was great with 9.  My tee shot on the first hole was beautiful, but went in the pond.  I had a lot of bad shots, but didn't play too bad for only having golfed once this year.  It was great to see how good Keegan had gotten over the summer playing in the Junior golf league.  Maddy did pretty good too, but was more than happy to quit after 9 holes.

And the winners are...  Men's Low Gross - Bart, Men's Low Net - Jesse, Women's - Tara, and Juniors - Keegan.  We were very surprised to be bringing home most of the trophies!

On labor day, we went to RC Willey and bought a new fridge - a pretty, black french door fridge with two freezer drawers on the bottom.  I love it!  That evening, Bart's parents came over for dinner - steak, kebabs and corn, and then Jesse and Paula stopped by with Jaxson and Cooper.  It was a nice day.

Bart has wanted to go for a drive to the radar tower for years, so in September, we finally decided to go.  We took the long scenic route through Farmington canyon.  Along the way, we stopped to put out a fire (that some campers had not completely put out).  It was a very scary and bumpy drive along skinny dirt roads but we finally made it up there and the road was chained closed.  I guess we were close enough.  We got out to enjoy the view, but it was very cold.

On Friday, September 24th, Keegan went on a scout overnighter to Strawberry Reservoir.  They participated in a flag retirement ceremony and went crawdad fishing.

On Saturday, September 25th, Bart went to the gun show with his dad and uncle Reg.  He bought some ammo and a 22 pistol.  Also that day, Maddy and I went to a fundraiser called "Kambri Kicks Cancer" for her friend who has bone cancer in her leg.  We decided to sleep in instead of doing the 5k race, but we went to the pancake breakfast and played some carnival games and bought italian ice.  I bid on a couple of things at the silent auction, but only won one of them - a cute wrought iron basket that had pretzel M&M's, Crunch n' Munch and a U of U cup and bottle opener.  I really wanted this scentsy gift basket, but I was outbid by $1.  We left in the middle to go see Myrna and my parents, and didn't get back until the auction was over, so I couldn't bid again to win it.  Oh well!  That night Maddy went to her friend Kaylie's birthday party.  They saw Beezus and Ramona at the Kaysville Theater.  Bart and Keegan and I stayed home and watched a movie.
