Today, December 23rd, is my mom's birthday. Having a birthday so close to Christmas is not usually a good thing because it sometimes gets forgotten with everything that is going on. My mom's birthday has always been special for the whole family! When we were growing up we always had a Christmas party with her side of the family on her birthday and we got to open presents too! She didn't get all the attention like you normally would on your birthday, but luckily she loves Christmas as much as I do (at least she used to) so I don't think she minds.
Tonight we are all going over to my parents house for a "birthday" party. The grandkids are going to be opening their presents from the cousin that drew their name. My kids are excited about it! My mom will also get to open some birthday presents from us! I made sure to wrap mine in birthday wrapping paper instead of Christmas. Hopefully she knows that we love her and hope she has a special day even though it is not a traditional birthday!
